TOM CASAVA Project run by TOM CASAVA Co.,Ltd.

aimed to utilize the valueless cassava
stumps, a waste product from cassava plantation,

by conversion it into high value and high price

activated carbon for industrial, agriculture,

household and health applications. The cassava stumps,a woody part of the plant is normally

leftover in the field and always carelessly burnt

by the farmer which have caused environmental pollution and problems to human health.

TOM CASAVA Co.,Ltd. has invented and

patenting a highly efficient furnace especially developed for conversion of the cassava stumps

into high quality and high value activated carbon, Plaichon Nature Charcoal (Plaichon NC®) and sell the products directly to the users.

The activated carbon from cassava stumps have
a higher absorbability, produced by chemicals

free process, and have no limitation in production
quantity when compared to the competitors, the charcoal and activated carbon from bamboo and
coconut shell, which have a higher price due to higher raw material cost, more porosity but less
absorbability, always contaminated with chemical residues and have a limited production quantity
due to the limited supply of the raw material. The target market applications of Plaichon NC® are
industrial segment especially industrial air and

water filter, household smell and odor absorbent
(catsand), health soaps and vegetable/fruits

washing pack.

To operate the project, farmers will collect cassava stumps from the field and sell it to the project
where it is converted into high quality activated carbon Plaichon NC® by the patenting furnace.
The present production capacity of the project furnaces and the factory is 10 MT of both granular and powdered activated carbon a day. The granular activated carbon is used for industrial air and water filter and household smell and odor absorbent, while the powdered activated carbon is used for manufacturing of household cat sand, soaps and vegetable/fruits washing pack household.

The charcoal products will be distributed to customers via the following channels. Direct sale contact
for industrial sectors, and dealers/distributors for all the household products. In additional, the
future market of rubber industry will be done through Bank of Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives
networking. Sale promotion for market expansion will be done through the advertisement in local newspaper and magazine, website and Fanpage, Specific group seminars and trade exhibitions of each market segmant.
